Sabine – 1st at the Velodrome

Super Sabine powers her way to victory in France!

Pordic velodrome was the venue on Saturday 31 May where Beaulieu student
Minchinton – Gilley secured her first win on French soil & fittingly it was on the velodrome following in the family tradition. This first win was especially deserved as she had prepared well for the physical demands as well as having to mentally prepare with visualisation techniques as Jersey as yet does not have an outdoor velodrome.

Securing the fastest time in the seeding round requires the rider to choose when to drive off the banking to maximise the trajectory for added speed, Sabine executed her dive to power to an exceptionally fast time to not only place her in top spot for the match sprint but to also place 5th fastest amongst the boys in her age group. A well fought match sprint ensued as the event progressed during the afternoon to finally be presented with a bouquet of flowers & an impressive trophy. Sabine was riding for her French club CC Plancoet who are very supportive in trying to help her follow her ambition to be a track rider, unfortunately opportunities are rare due to the travelling required. Sabine is also a member of both the JCA Youth Academy & Caesarean Cycling Club.
