Race report: Velodrome track racing in France

Weather conditions severely affected the programme of events held at the Regional Challenge Emmanuel Frin Trophée de Brocéliande des Poursuiteurs in Brittany on 01

April. The pursuit round for all categories was completed in between intermittent showers but unfortunately the 500m events did not take place. A second place and a personal best time was achieved by JCAYA and CCC member Sabine Minchinton-Gilley, which resulted in a 06 seconds improvement on her last 2km pursuit on this track, which took place back in July 2016 on a warm sunny day. The winner, who competes for the French National junior squad and Brittany’s ladies team, was 01 second slower on her record time from last July. In terms of improvement for Sabine, 06 seconds is a sizeable amount of time over the 2km pursuit distance and indicates continued development for this sixteen-year old rider as her form builds for future competition. The weekend away was put to good use as the velodrome in Pordic was available for a coaching session on the Monday, which was put to good use with a full day session working on entry lines and sprint tactics as well as held start accelerations.

Thanks to: Plan2coaching, Healthhaus, JCAYA, CCC & Mark Pickford Cycles.
